Here is how I was taught to do a distance healing with reiki. I know it's not the only way, and may not be your way, but I'd like to share it with you all. In it you do not need a person's location, and you don't have to specify a particular ailment, unless you want to. Feel free to try it, or not. If your method differs, please let me know your way of distance healing, if you feel like sharing. It's from my reiki manual I wrote for Second Degree classes, so bear with me if it's kinda boring, or whatever...
Distance Healing
The distance healing process is simple and takes less than twenty minutes to accomplish. It is faster than a hands on healing, and the energy will enter the person’s aura first, then go to their body. You can do a distance healing to anything you can think of, not just people. Some examples would be: Your entire family, your dog, all the water in Thailand, anyone who’s ever been hit by a train, yourself, etc.
Another powerful and useful aspect of distance healing is that space and time are not barriers to its effectiveness. You can reiki your brother’s cat, even if it’s on the other side of the planet. Also, you can send reiki into both the past and the future. For instance, if you knew ahead of time that you were going to have open heart surgery on March 17, 2026, then you could start reikiing yourself for it now. Or, you could send reiki to all the soldiers in the Trojan War. The possibilities are as limitless as your imagination.
Another useful aspect of the distance healing is the capability of having it repeat. It can be set to repeat a specified number of times, or until the problem is solved. For example, the healing will occur twice per day, at noon and midnight for the next 30 days, including today. Or, once per day until my Scarlet Fever is gone.
The following is the sequence of events in a distance healing:
(1) Calm yourself.
(2) Visualize the three symbols in the order of H, S, C.
(3) Name and visualize those that you want the healing energy to go to. Again, it can be any number of Nouns, such as your extended family, all the rhubarb plants in Idaho, or every victim of sexual degradation in Uganda. (I was taught to always include myself in the healing). Also, at this point if you're intuitive, ask your guides for any suggestions of things to include in your healing.
(4) Decide when the healing will take place, such as now, noon a week ago, or 3:45pm on June 4th, 2014.
(5) Decide if the healing will repeat, such as no repeating, twice a day for ten days, or once a day for forty days.
(6) Visualize the three symbols in the order of H, S, C.
(7) Lastly spend fifteen minutes doing the Reiki. The Reiki can be done in a vast number of ways. Using a doll to represent the person, using a visualization of a person, using your thighs to represent the front/back of a torso, visualizing the entire person very small and cupped in your hands, etc.
Here are a few examples of using a distance reiki session a bit creatively; (1) Do a distance reiki healing to your sleep debt when you can’t seem to get enough time to catch up on it. (2) Do a distance reiki session with no particular thing as the receiver. Instead, focus the session to form a sphere of reiki energy that will hang around near you, and when you come upon someone that can use it, direct it to go to them. (3) Reiki your day at work, before it happens, in order to help things go more pleasantly.
That's it hope you like'd it. ^_^

Re: Distance Healing With Reiki
Thu, June 9, 2005 - 5:24 AMWhat you describe is very much similar to how I do distance reiki. Thanks for putting it down so simply. Some people I have talked to about this want it to be more difficult and structured.

Re: Distance Healing With Reiki
Tue, November 1, 2005 - 9:41 AMMost people find doing distance healing without the use of any symbols to be less effective, in terms of reiki. There are many ways to do distance healings that have nothing to do with reiki and do not use symbols. However, in this context, reiki, we tend to use the symbols. I was told that Reiki, as Dr Usui originally taught it, had no symbols in it. But, he found his students had a difficult time focusing their intentions sufficiently to bring about the desired effects, such as distance healing or releasing emotional blocks. So, he attuned them to symbols that represented the desired effect, and they no longer had to focus their intentions so forcefully, they could simply draw out the symbols.
I've heard of a number of different methods for doing a distance healing using reiki, and what I've written here is a summary of how I do it. Some people use just the one symbol (honshazeshonen), but, that is not how I was originally taught, and we tend to go with what our masters show us, eh? Though, I actually use four symbols, I didn't list them all because this tribe has a lot of Second Degree practitioners who do not know the fourth symbol, and it is not necessary (though does help draw and focus the reiki).
I meant that in your listing of who/what/where/when in the initial setting up of the distance healing, that you can include yourself. Perhaps it was unclear, but your distance healing can go out to more than just one person, place, or thing. You could simultaneously send healing energy to your mom, my mom, your dog, the nation of Iraq, and yourself. All in one healing.
Hope that answers your questions. Namaste,

Re: Distance Healing With Reiki
Sat, November 12, 2005 - 11:25 AMThanks, I really like the suggestions at the end. I love the Reiki ball, and then directing it where you want, never thought of that. I do have a couple of people I want to send to. I love doing distance, it's a way of really helping out and caring for the people I love.
I did send Reiki to my day ahead a couple of times. I keep meaning to make it a habit.
Thanks for sharing.
